Auto-flower Cannabis growing tips:

Here's some tips from Next Generation Seed Company for growing auto-flower seeds outdoors in Canada and other climates with a short growing season. Outdoor growers in northern climates like Canada are limited on the seed varieties they can successfully grow to full maturity. Our growing season is very short unless you live in South-Western BC or southern Ontario. In all other parts of Canada I recommend growing auto-flower seeds so your crop is guaranteed to be harvested before the harsh weather moves in. Our auto-flower feminized seeds are perfect for growing here.

In the past growers had to start their seeds early in spring and have the right genetics in order to have successful crops here on the harsh Canadian prairies. Now auto-flower seeds have revolutionized outdoor growing. These seeds have a fixed lifespan that is not dependent on daylight hours of sun like traditional photo-period strains. You can start your seeds in the end of May, and harvest by the end of August. Even if you start your seeds in Mid-June you will still pull in a crop by mid-September, before the first frost hits in most parts of Canada.

The most sensitive stage in growing these seeds is the germination and transplant phase. If they are stressed when young they will not reach their full potential and your yields will be diminished. After the seedlings are established they should be planted directly into the final location. If it is re-transplanted too many times it will stunt the growth. Auto-flower plants do not like to be rootbound or kept in small containers. I do not recommend Jiffy pucks, as they are too dense and can inhibit root growth. Rockwool or just good old clean soilless mix is best in a seedling tray(Sunshine#4, Promix, etc).

Germination:
To germinate auto-flower seeds I always recommend this simple method:
- Place the seeds in a glass of clean water(no additives) for 2-3 days.(change water every day)
- plant seeds in seedling tray with humidity dome(even if doesn't look like they have sprouted)
- seedlings should pop threw after 2-7 days in the tray.
- allow 2-6 days of *"hardening off" in tray before the seedlings are moved to final grow container or location.
*"Hardening off" refers to getting the small sensitive seedlings slowly accustomed to a dryer, brighter condition by removing the humidity dome several times daily, increasing light exposure, increasing air movement, and slowly getting it ready for transplant.

*Common mistakes people make growing auto-flower..
- Many growers make the mistake of using heating pads under the seedling trays and cook the roots when the plants are young. Only use heating pads if;  you are growing in a cold location,  you are experienced and know what you are doing, and closely monitor things.
- If growing in containers, use well aerated loose soil. Dense soil will inhibit root grow and effect plant size and yield.
- We do not recommend the "paper towel" method if you are inexperienced. Many growers use this method with success, but there can be problems if you are not careful. When you are transferring a sprouted seed from paper towel into a grow medium it is extremely easy to damage the root. That is why we recommend planting the seed before the tap root is too far exposed..

Our Auto-flower feminized seed strains have a total growth time from germination until harvest anywhere between 85 days-110 days, depending on strain.. I recommend growers start the seeds in the end on May in most Canadian climates. This will ensure you a crop in the end of august or the first few weeks of September.

Growing recommendations for autoflower seeds:

Indoors: Grow under 18-20 hours of light per day, from germination to harvest.

Outdoors:  At Canadian lattitude (49-53degrees),  germinate seeds indoors mid May.  Move outdoors in early June & harvest late August.
